3 Gorgeous Porches - Places To Dream....

I'd love to have a beautiful porch like any of these....

Those 'tree chairs', small log side table, and large wooden coffee table in the second picture are so rustic and textural. I love them! So soothing.

We all need a place to dream and relax. :)

Fearless Fantasy Friday ~ Wallpaper, Painted Chairs, and Colour!

I see things like the images below....

... and I'm reminded of how I've been hankering to get some wallpaper somewhere in my house, even if it's just on a ceiling (oh yes, I WILL do that one day), and to paint some furniture in a bold colour. I've been eyeing off my dining chairs and a couple of bookcases for that adventure.

That last image, with its bold chairs and eye catching light fitting is pretty fearless too!

I found the pictures above over on House Of Turquoise. A feast for the eyes on this Fearless Fantasy Friday.

There's more too....

Have a great weekend everyone!

A Cosy Office Area...Plus Two More Lovely Rooms

I love this office area.... books, a globe, butterflies (although I wish they weren't real ones), my fave autumnal colours, nature inspired objects. All things I've got a fascination for!

Being the night owl I am, I could just imagine myself typing away here within a cosy pool of lamplight into the wee hours!

I love these following pics as well for their displays of natural objects, gorgeous mix of colours, and thoughtful vignettes.

I could quite happily have rooms like these in my own home!

3 Things To Love - The Work Of Paul Joseph Hopper

Whilst visiting The Way We Are the other day, I spotted a photo from the portfolio of interiors stylist Paul Joseph Hopper.

Intrigued I clicked over to his site and ...... wow! I love the work this guy does. Such lovely 'displays of affection', gorgeous colour palettes, interesting arrangements, and props... brilliant!

Together, the 3 images below contain butterflies, great cushions, books, a world globe, (all things I'm absolutely enamoured with), so I just HAD to feature them here. (I do prefer fake butterlflies to the real ones though).

The rooms all look so fresh and cool too. We're just coming into the hot part of the year over here, so these rooms look very inviting!

A great 'stylist' at work.

What do you think?

Butterflies Made From Maps........ Wow!

OK.....

.... I've 'gotta thing' for butterflies, and I've 'gotta thing' for maps.

So, when I came across these today.... two personal fascinations collided with glee! Two of my most favourite things combined into one - magnificent!

Oh how I'd love some of these to put on my wall. They're not cheap though..... ranging between 200 and 500 pounds each. I wonder if I could do something similar myself with some old maps and my scrapbooking templates or tools? Hmmmmmm....

The name of the wondrous people who make these treasures is 'Image Surgery'. Gotta love that in itself.

The first butterfly, above, is made from an original vintage street map of Rome.

The butterflies below are made from original vintage street plans of Rome and London, and geological surveys from Australia and Africa.

The gorgeous butterfly above is made from an original vintage map showing the River Severn Estuary northeast of Chepstow, including the towns of Hewelsfield, Woolaston, Purton and Sharpness.

You can see more butterflies made from things like lunar charts, celestial charts, and different maps at Image Surgery's fab website.

What a stunning way to bring two things I love most into my home environment in a simple, yet eye-catching way.

Do you like them?

3 Things To Love - Colour, Pattern, and More Colour!!

I'm a 'red girl', so this room makes me wanna jump up and down in glee! LOVE all the gorgeous fabric with red and white patterning on it.

But, the rooms below are pretty darn nice too! Blue and green........ divine. And, as much as I see it, I never tire of Kelly Wearstler's Imperial Trellis fabric.... such a classic.

The view out of the second room's window isn't bad either. :)

Who Else Likes Plates On A Wall?

What a great way to make an unusual, colourful, conversation starting display! Plates are easy to collect, come in all shapes and sizes, and just by grouping them together you've got a personalised and eclectic exhibition of images created around a theme you love.

These 3 images are all from the blog Down and Out Chic, which happens to have a whole category dedicated to plates on a wall! There's over a 100 images showing plates of all sorts, displayed in all sorts of ways.

So, if you don't mind a 'plate on a wall', and you'd like some inspiration aimed at making a magnificent plate display, head on over and take in the scenery!

Whoa!! Do You Like Colour? Take A Look At These Fabulous Photos...

Erin from the gorgeous blog House Of Turquoise just featured some pictures by a designer named Holly Dyment.

What a super discovery! Holly is one colourful lady, and puts rooms together in a way that makes me want to bounce around gleefully. This women uses colour and pattern with abandon and unabashed love.

Yeah!

Here's just 3 images to love. You can see more over on Erin's blog, and even more in Holly's portfolio.

3 Things To Love - The Amazing Work of Helen Musselwhite

Imagine my absolute astonishment when I came across Helen Musselwhite's beautiful paper works of art a week or so ago early one bleary eyed morning....

My well documented love of owls got kicked into overdrive with many pieces featuring their gorgeous presence - this piece was one of so many delightful owl artworks I could have picked.

And, my love for trees and all things woodsy and foresty means this piece is a standout for me...

But, finally, the piece that really made my jaw drop............

Now, as well as my afore-mentioned 'owl' and 'tree' fascinations, I have a 'thing' for butterflies, and all 3 are taken care of in one magnificent, sublime piece of crafting genious with the intricate and delicate work above.

I'm absolutely in awe of this beautifully detailed example of handmade heaven.

Check out the galleries on Helen's website for more wonderful scenes...

Ask yourself: 'What do I 'have a thing for'?'

Which leads to: 'How can I introduce objects or items related to my 'fascination' into my surroundings in beautiful ways?'

Because: Bringing representations of things that fascinate you into your home will add a special dimension that nothing else can. And, finding unusual and surprising ways to include them adds an extra eye-catching twist!

Cheers,

Linda.

3 Things To Love - The Comfort Of Soft Little Things...

You might've noticed I'm starting some new categories involving numbers (1 Simple Thing, Gimme 5), and this category is going to be all about things I love.

Things that make a difference to the feel of my home.

Things that bring a spark or maybe even an explosion of joy to my life.

Things that make my heart skip a beat because they're just so beautiful to look at.

Here then, are 3 things to love today....... all of which would be so blissful to touch and stroke. Having little delights like these around our homes and yards is an absolute blessing to the soul! Nothing soothes quite so well as the innocent, soft, joyous presence of a little ball of fluff.... or fur.... or feathers!!

Cheers,

Linda.
