Fossicking Around....

I'm fossicking around this weekend.... just puttering about in the garden, cleaning, looking in shops..... avoiding going in to work - ha!

This room looks like a good room to spend some time fossicking in!

Happy weekend lovelies. I hope you get to fossick amongst some good stuff and find/enjoy some gems!

The blog I sourced the pic above from would be a good place to start if you have time!

Fearless Fantasy Friday ~ Wallpaper, Painted Chairs, and Colour!

I see things like the images below....

... and I'm reminded of how I've been hankering to get some wallpaper somewhere in my house, even if it's just on a ceiling (oh yes, I WILL do that one day), and to paint some furniture in a bold colour. I've been eyeing off my dining chairs and a couple of bookcases for that adventure.

That last image, with its bold chairs and eye catching light fitting is pretty fearless too!

I found the pictures above over on House Of Turquoise. A feast for the eyes on this Fearless Fantasy Friday.

There's more too....

Have a great weekend everyone!

Looking At Some Gorgeous Cushions In A Friend's Home...

The other day I was absolutely drooling over a couple of cushions on the ByNord website. I must have deliberated for around half an hour before deciding to not buy them at the moment. I already have stacks upon stacks of cushions (need to clear some out), and I have other priorities at the moment so far as things for my home go.

But, boy oh boy, did those cushions look good! They have two of my favourite animals on them, and the photography is breath-taking.

Then, today, I skipped over to my friend Sacha's glorious blog and to my surprise (huge intake of breath when I saw them).... she has the EXACT cushions I was not so eloquently drooling over earlier.

WOW - love them!

Not to mention the rest of Sacha's beautiful and serene home. Her rooms are full of the most wonderful light and you can feel the calmness and serenity flowing from the images. A beautiful home to cocoon yourself in.... to sit by the fireside and read a good book.

Pop over to Sacha's blog for some more gorgeous photos of her home.

A Garden Of Cushions - I LOVE This!

Wow... you all know how much I LOVE cushions (I am a 'cushionista' after all), so you can imagine how my heart leapt when I saw the gorgeous image below!

I found it on one of my fave blogs Gillyflower, where you can always find beautiful images and thoughtful posts.

I soon as I saw it I thought of it as a garden of cushions.... in all my favourite colours too!

It's actually jumped into my mind many times today as I've gone about my business. One day, I'm just gonna have to have a room where I can fit in a gorgeous sofa like that one, with a garden of cushions in all my most adored colours, backed by a beautiful gallery wall with all my favourite photos and artwork displayed on it.

The whole thing just makes me HAPPY and strikes a chord inside me. And, that's what we should have inside our homes..... things that make us HAPPY!!

I just want to throw myself on that couch and wallow in all of it!

I hope you all have a happy weekend. :)

Perhaps you'll find something that makes you so happy you just want to jump in and wallow in it! (Far better to wallow in happiness than the miserable sort of wallowing - don't you think?!)

P.S. I'm going away on school camp this coming week with a bunch of 60 grade 3s, so I'll be playing hooky from the blog for a little while whilst I'm out snorkelling, canoeing, mucking around on the beach, looking for possums at night, and generally making sure all the children have a good time and get home safe and sound!

See you when I get back. :)

Fearless Fantasy Friday - No Guts, No Glory!!

I was reading a post over on Coco And Kelly yesterday where Cassandra was talking about getting up the 'guts' to do what she really wanted to do in her bedroom make-over.

I left a comment mentioning the oft used phrase 'no guts, no glory!' because I really think we should follow our  hearts and our 'gut' and go for something if we are truly yearning for it.

If we can pull it off.... glory awaits!

After all.... we can change a paint colour pretty easily.... replace a print, get new curtains (a bit more expensive) etc.

But, all in all, it probably won't be the end of the world if it fails and we have to re-examine what we've done and make some alterations (or even, oh no..... start over!)

I mused about this sort of 'fear factor' a while ago in a post titled 'What Is It You're Craving For Your Home But Haven't Tried Yet? - 3 Questions To Ask Yourself'.

And then, I found this picture whilst visiting a blog that's great for inspiration - The Lennoxx.

If you click on the pic below you'll get the FULL, massive pic with more furniture in it than you can actually see at first glance.

No guts, no glory indeed!

How fabulous is this pic?

Such big, brave, bold use of pattern on the curtains, the supremely glam choice of furniture and accessories.... the whole thing screams 'going for it' to me, and I think they pulled it off BIG TIME!

What do you think?

What do you really want to do in your home, but haven't had the 'guts' to try yet?

Happy Friday everyone.... I hope you get to do something BIG and BOLD this weekend.

Go for it!

I Just Wanna Be Here......

My absolute love of unusual wooden, textured, accessories/furniture (I'm staring at that table), and old books that feel like they've lived a life of their own means I REALLY want to be in this space.

The big chunky woodwork behind.... the trees (oh how I love trees) in the surroundings.... I could get lost on that porch for unlimited amounts of time.

Peace personified for me.

And, the cushions are pretty darn amazing too.

I found the image on Greige Design.... a lovely new blog to add to my faves list!

A New Blog For You To Check Out... Style Illuminated!

Kate over at Lamps Plus sent me an email about their newly re-named and re-styled blog a few days ago, and when I checked it out I was impressed!

The blog's new name is Style Illuminated, and it has some great articles, different contributors, and lots of great pics and photos about a range of ideas to do with interiors and design.

There was info on different trends, fabric swatches, a post on 'Mad Men' style, interviews with top designers, tips for a great Fall picnic, lists of top accessories, some great Missoni pics (sigh), and even a post on 'The Power Of Plaid'.... and that was all on the front page as I scrolled down!

As it's Fall across the pond in America (Spring over here!), there were also quite a few articles on Fall looks and styles, so I've picked a few pics to share with you. Pop on over to Style Illuminated for lots more pics and great looks!

All the pics above are from an article entitled 'Tablescape Inspiration Ideas For A Fall Dinner Party'.

The gorgeous arrangements above (gawd I LOVE Fall colours - they're everywhere in my home all year 'round - that's my colour palette, right there....) are from an article about flower and fruit arrangements for Fall.

And below, are some more pics from various articles showing how to make a home cozy, how to use candlelight effectively, and one featuring marbled wallpaper in Fall colours!

For lots more inspiration, check out the Style Illuminated blog here.

P.S. Here's a pic from their newest post (just noticed it today) about budget decorating! This room really has a lived in, eclectic, cozy vibe to me, even though there's lots of white in it.

And another... how gorgeous are the colours in this one?!

Now.... I beseech you all to.....

A Samantha Pynn Modern Beauty....

I've long been an admirer of Samantha Pynn, and this home, found at the ever fabulous Style At Home is one full of personality and pizzazz!

I love its bold graphic patterns, the artworks, its simplicity, the eclectic mix of objects, the curvature on the backs of those first dining chairs, that fab lighting pendant.... and of course... the tree table. You KNOW I want one of those!

Ignore the arrows on the side of the pics.... they won't work here, but they will if you view the rest of the slide show at Style At Home!

Samantha deviated from her usual colour palette of pink or lavender for these rooms, and came up with a more masculine look that's full of layers and unusual finds.

My sort of home.... quirky, individual, and dripping with uniqueness.

For more pics of this lovely space, visit Style At Home. There's also lots of other decor goodness to be found there!

My New Favourite Blog.... Sacha, Your Writing Rocks!

I love this amazing world of bloggy inspiration. There's some incredible and delightful people 'out there' I'd never get the chance to meet, or interact with, if it wasn't for this wonderful thing called the World Wide Web.

One of the new people in my own little corner of blog land is Sacha from Thru The Orange Door! Hi Sacha (waving with a big smile!)

Sacha has left a some lovely comments on my blog over the last few days, and also joined the 'I Believe In Home' campaign. (Thanks Sacha... big hugs!)

So, of course, I wandered over to her blog to see what she was about.

It was pretty much instantly obvious that Sacha is a lovely person whose sense of humour and style of writing is the sort I really enjoy. (And I bet you will too).

The first two posts made me laugh out loud. (It was a tea spitting laugh, but fortunately my cup and mouth were both empty at the time). The bird song was short and hilarious, and the one about 'the shakes' had me with the pigeon, the muesli, and the resulting crap all over the place!

The third post was about mouth watering brownies (of which I am equally a fan)... so Sacha is definitely from good stock. :) There was also a very inspiring story behind the making of these brownies.

Not to mention the fact Sacha obviously has a bit of a 'thing' about orange doors. (Now I KNOW she's my kinda gal).

So, I just wanted to say 'Hi Sacha, thanks for finding me, and your writing rocks'!

A Study Of 'The Study'! Some Beautiful Rooms To Admire...

I'm in a bit of a 'studious' mood today.... and this little collection of office/study photos is a great example of how different people work best in different surrounds.

Whatever gets your creative/work juices flowing is what's best to have around you. For some, minimalism helps calm their mind and create focus, whilst others need colour and comfort to settle in and let loose on their workload.

I tend to feel the need to be cocooned in my work space so everything else becomes 'stuff' on the outside of my little world, and therefore doesn't get in the way and distract me. To that end I love lots of texture, fabric and richer colours where possible.

What do you need to work/create best?

This Is My New Favourite Room!

I love this kids' playroom with its huge items of furniture, massive artwork and stand-out pendant lights! I would've loved rollicking around this room as a kid.

Equally impressive for grown-ups too I think.... relaxing on that overscale lounge and reading a good book would be fab.

The picture is taken from my favourite online magazine Traditional Home (an offshoot of Lonny Mag). I could really lose myself in the rooms featured throughout its beautiful pages.

Check out the edition featuring this gorgeous room here!

A Cosy Office Area...Plus Two More Lovely Rooms

I love this office area.... books, a globe, butterflies (although I wish they weren't real ones), my fave autumnal colours, nature inspired objects. All things I've got a fascination for!

Being the night owl I am, I could just imagine myself typing away here within a cosy pool of lamplight into the wee hours!

I love these following pics as well for their displays of natural objects, gorgeous mix of colours, and thoughtful vignettes.

I could quite happily have rooms like these in my own home!

Monday Mojo - Covet Garden...

Happy Monday morning lovlies!

Last week was a super busy week around here, and the blog has been suffering a bit - sorry!

I really wanted to  give you some Monday Mojo though, so I'm giving you a peek into one of Covet Garden's issues.

Covet Garden is a different kind of design magazine. They're interested in spaces that have not been styled by interior decorators and that, above all else, reflect the passions and interests of those who live in them.

This bite size, but very juicy little mag focuses on the creative home of one couple or person at a time, and gives us a glimpse into places that inspire with their uncommon and attainable décor ideas.

In this issue you get to see inside the home of two artists and a musician who all live together. Follow the links on the pages to find out where they get their stuff and how to make Heather's lovely origami boxes!

Have a great week everyone. :)

May your mojo be with you!

An Oasis Of Mellow Light, Warm Water, and Soothing Atmosphere...

The atmosphere in this photo is almost mesmerizing.

I'd love to spend an hour or so submerging myself in that water and drifting away into dreamy oblivion.

This oasis of peace was found over at Shari's delightful blog Little Blue Deer!

You'll find more 'lantern lit' rooms in her beautiful post here.
