Mile End Road... What A Home - Full Of Whimsy and Atmosphere!!

Back on 1st Option (where this previously featured home came from), I ran across Mile End Road. Love the name, and just look at the interior shots.

Talk about moody, atmospheric, eclectic, whimsical, theatrical...... and then some!

The kitchen alone just does me in! There's so much to look at. I'm a 'cocooner' (just made that word up), and I could cocoon myself in there all day. Not much light I know... but it kinda reminds me of all the books I used to read when I was little that were based in old houses with secret passageways and hidden rooms etc!!

I know a few of you out there who'll be fawning over the floors too - aren't they great!

And, there's one room that has something I've been absolutely dying to get for years now. One came up at an antique auction here a few weeks back.... but I gave up when the bidding went over $400 (which was still remarkably cheap..... I just wanted it to somehow magically come my way!).

Can you guess what it is?

You can see all 18 pics of Mile End Road over on 1st Option. Well worth the look, there's some more rooms not featured here!

  1. I would like to live on those rooms for a little while. Like you said it reminds me of books I read when I was a child. Charmaine

  3. what an amazing house, you are right about the cocooning nature of the place - you can feel that wrapped-up-ness just from the photo's.

do you suppose a lot of this comes from the architecture of the rooms ?

i'd love to see the actual house!

  4. Lee, I think the ceilings have a bit to do with it too... they're all painted in various muted colours to blend with the rooms' walls, which helps with that sort of wrap-around effect.
