  1. devine books !

drop over to hay-on-wye (herefprdshire in england) on the net - a whole town of secondhand bookstores.

i am always devestated to see an old book turned into an origami or a note pad - i couldn't do it despite the obvious "art" involved.

  3. Oh wow Lee, a whole town!! I'd be lost in there for days. :) I'm like you... I just can't bring myself to pull old books apart to use them for craft projects... I sort of feel like I'm desecrating them or something. Although, I do appreciate looking at the work of others.

  4. My grandfather was a book collector and in his house there are still all his books. You have no idea...an entire room, and a large one, with walls covered by books from top to bottom. just the smell of all thet old and also new paper could send me to paradise on earth. Those are my books now, because my grandad left them to me, but I can't move them from that place. Like you said, it's like desacrating.

  5. Wish my grandfather had been a book collector, how wonderful and 'rich' (not in the monetary sense). How amazing he left them all to you. It reminds me of one of the characters in the book 'Inkheart' who had a whole house of books, wall to wall, old and new. A place like that would be paradise wouldn't it!

  7. Wow, what an amazing bookcase. I love old books and always feel a special thrill whenever I see any on my thrifting haunts since they are so expensive at antique shops. I always like to imagine that they were well-loved and well-read when they show such signs of wear.
