Monday Music - All About Soul

This is where it all began (personally one of my fave articles ever!!).

Music is SO important to the happiness of my home. :)

Now most Monday mornings when the working week looms I'll try to post a fave song or some music I'm listening to at the moment to provide some musical motivation.

So my little groovers......... here's today's installment!

I'm back from my holidays!! Yay!! I hope you are all well and enjoying the New Year thus far.

This morning I wanted to share a song that's about a word I use in relation to the way I decorate.... SOUL.

I truly believe when we decorate our houses and turn them into homes, we're creating interiors filled with soul.... interiors that resonate with the very essence of our beings.

So, in celebration of 'SOUL' today we have my all time Billy Joel favourite. From my point of view, it's a completely under-rated masterpiece... a song that deserved a lot more attention than it got.

It was a song that appeared much later than all his early (and most well known) hits, but whenever I think of Billy Joel, this is the song I start to sing.

It's also one that sounds absolutley amazing really loud! The louder I play it, the more I love it.

I've been known to look like a complete idiot singing this song in my lounge room whilst putting all the physical effort into it I can.

Jessie's the only one who's seen me though... so the world is safe!

Billy Joel - All About Soul. (Turn it up!)

The above 'live' version is actually slightly shorter than the album version, but it was the only video clip I could find with Billy actually performing it (not a half assed cover by someone).

However, I LOVE this song so much, I'm including the full length version below, which just has an image of the album cover to look at whilst it's playing.

You get a couple more verses in this one... and the words are worth it I think.

Don't forget, if you're looking for more great music, Bec over at Memory Garden often has a lovely song to listen to on Mondays as well!

And, as always when thinking of our 'Musical Must Haves' section...

Ask yourself: 'Do I L.O.V.E music?'

Which leads to: 'Have I got enough of it in my home and in my life?'

Because: Good interior design caters to ALL our senses, not just our eyes.... that's why I call it 'Atmospheric Design' instead!

The Original Musical Must Have:

  1. Welcome back!! How was your holiday?? I missed you!

This is a great song in classick rock. I saw Billy Joel twice when he sang in Milan, and both events were marvellous. He's a great singer and a great showman.

Thanks for your support about the shop, I am really panicking at times. But I am happy. This is the first step, My ambition is to have one day a larger plece to sell also small pieces of furniture (of course!). Right now I'm just designing and producing bags and accessorize along with my mom's help, and it's more than I could imagine to happen.
I will share pictures of the opening.

    Wecome back again!!

  2. Hi Bobbi, I missed you too!!! I was thinking of you and your shop whilst I was on holidays.

We had a lovely time at the beach for a week or so, and I've been pottering around home, visiting friends, lunching, and reading heaps of books.... all of which I've really enjoyed!

I still have 2 weeks of hols left, but have been into school getting ready, and will probably go in most days from now on to prepare.

I'm so excited about your beautiful shop, and can't wait to see how you go on Wednesday when you open.

I'm sure you'll be a massive hit with your customers!!!

  3. It's hard not to sing at the top of your lungs to Billy Joel :)

  4. I missed you Linda ... and I also missed your musical recommendations for Monday happiness! :)

Billy Joel is always so much fun ... his songs are great on SingStar - though I don't think my singing voice does his music any favours! ;)

I'm very grateful for your participation.

Until next time may your home be full of lots of love, laughter, and life!

Linda. xx
