The image below 'had me at hello', can you guess why?
Those of you who know me well will remember my penchant for red, my love of owls, my adoration of quotes around the home, and my fascination with pattern and colour in general.
How then, could my heart not skip a beat when I saw this great photo over on the Anthology Blog via the Heima Store.
LOVE the desk with the red and pink drawers, the owl lamps are divine of course, and the art works based on quotes are gorgeous.
And, using books as part of a room's decoration (stacking them, using their spines to entice the eye etc) is always part of my design mojo!
I'll have the whole thing transported to my place thanks!

The Essence Of Turning A House Into A Home....
When you recover or discover something that nourishes your soul and brings joy, care enough about yourself to make room for it in your life. ~ Jean Shinoda Bolen.
I think the above quote gets to the essence of how to turn a house into a true home for the heart and soul.
Oh how I love butterflies. Having them around me in my home brings me joy. I have quite a few fake feathery ones on my walls, and I adore them. They make me feel good, and they remind me of a dearly missed loved one.
Do you have things around you that nourish your soul and bring you joy?

Who Loves Letters In Their Life? Get A Load Of These....
I do indeed have a great love for typography and all manner of letters and numbers on display.
Something about them is strangely attractive for me.
I found these interesting images over on Fresh Home amongst 24 other photos with great ideas showcasing ways to use numbers and letters in your home.
That last one above is my favourite by far.... I think it reminds me of the print from one of my favourite books when I was younger.
I want that wallpaper in a room with 100s of beautiful books, a lazy lounge with gorgeous cushions all over it, plus a lush, soft rug on the floor to sink my feet into.
Ooh, and some lovely lamps to provide mellow pools of light while I read my books with tea and chocolate close by.
Just sayin'!

A Path Through The Forest........My Room Fantasy....
Whilst rummaging around my inspiration folders a few days ago, I came across these photographs.
I think they'd look amazing as large canvas prints or photographs on the walls of a single room.
I find them to be intriguing, mysterious, thought provoking, ethereal.... just beautiful!
I can just imagine the space I would use them in if I had the room! I'd have them hanging in my dining room...... the room would have a table in it something like the one in this pic.....
... a wooden, organic, earthy, spontaneous feeling sort of table.
The walls wouldn't be white though.... they'd be a soft grey green, or a medium warm grey, and the colour would wrap around on the ceiling to cocoon the room.
The ceiling may even be a darker colour like a soft charcoal... a little like putting a 'night sky' into the room, adding to the overall 'foresty' effect.
The floor would have beautiful dark wooden boards to ground the whole scene, and also a huge rug with forest tones in it...... greens, golds, muted autumn reds, rusts, light greys.... symbolising the forest floor.
There'd be some lovely organically shaped vases of opaque coloured glass to bring some accent (both colour and textural) to the room, and in them or around them some objects collected from nature displayed in various ways...... twisted wood, pine cones, smooth rocks, beautiful flowers of all colours.
Maybe some 'touchy-feely' felted bowls like these....very textural and natural...
And, some curvy, flowing, wooden bowls like these...
And the light would be some sort of free form 'branch' light with little fairy lights sprinkled through it,
And, I'd use that room as a place for dinner parties or late night get togethers where deep discussion would take place! The photos could prompt us to talk about where our lives are taking us, what's leading us along, the path we're taking, what we're working towards, what we can use to 'light' our way, the goals we can make to illuminate our journey.
The crockery would be delightful, rich hues of green, golden yellow, cherry red, tans, maybe even some aubergine thrown in!
There'd be lots of beautiful beeswax candles, votives burning in gorgeous glass holders, and some earthy essential oil like ylang ylang or patchouli with a dash of sweet orange burning in my vapourizer.
A room of warm, soft light; forest colours, beautiful textures, grounding scents.
Sigh.
How nice to be able to have a room like that. It'd really take care of my 'thing for trees' and my love of soft glowing light.
Oh well........ it's nice to dream!

P.S: I've had the top 6 pics in my inspiration folders for so long I've forgotten where I found them. Apologies to the owners. If anyone recognises them, please let me know and I'll link them up asap.

Fearless Fantasy Friday - How Would You Like To Be Lounging Here?....
This space is just breath-taking for me...... all those trees so beautifully majestic in the background would make that porch the perfect place for soul restoration.
The part of my heart that yearns to have trees around me would be very happy indeed if I had somewhere like that to find my peace.
I'm a trifle late for a Fearless Fantasy Friday post, but as it's only just gone Saturday here, and it's still Friday on the other side of the world, I figure I can still make it count. And, this image just jumped off the page at me.
Happy weekend my lovelies! May you find a place to reach your own peace this weekend.

Speaking Of Bookshelves... Here's A Magnificent One For You!
Speaking of bookshelves (as I did a few days ago), how would you like a room with one like this in it?
Uh huh. Dang that's fabulous!
Of course, it's in this house, so it had to be amazing really, didn't it!
Beautiful.
More lovely images over at This Is Glamorous.

I've Waited and Waited - The Song I Can Finally Share With You...
Since this blog began (quite a few years ago now), there's been one song.... one single song, that I've always wanted to share with you.
For a great long while however, naughty You Tube wouldn't let me embed the clip here... it said the embedding feature was disabled 'at the artist's request'. Gotta respect that.
Every now and again I'd go back and listen to this song, drink in the words, look at all the little 'secret signs' the video seems to have just for me.... and sigh (and sometimes have a sniffle as well).
Today I went for my semi-regular listen, thinking that I was going to bloody well write this post anyway because the song is so freaking important to me, and I'd just post a text link to the actual video. I was going to do my first ever picture-less post.... just words and a link. Whilst I was there, just for the heck of it (I'd given up doing this a while back), I clicked on the 'embed' button.
Oh. My. Goodness..... up popped an embed code.
Eeeeeeeeeek! Are you kidding! I can now embed the original of my favourite Pete Murray song (thanks VEVO and of course Pete), with all its truly significant words (to me), and the pictorial symbolism that triggers so much for me.
If you know me well you know that trees are a very meaningful part of my life. See the tree in the video? I almost lived in a tree much like that for a long time. So many cherished memories. That is my perfect tree.
And the butterfly on the lamp and on his wrist (not only is it a butterfly on his wrist... it's the 'right' butterfly), well, you know what I think about them. Their significance is VERY close to my heart.
And, the scene when he pulls down the wall and you can see that tree, across a golden field, in the sunset... well.... this post is connected very closely to the feel that scene gives me. I'm sure that memory is one of the main reasons I decorate using the colours I do in my own home.
Plus he writes on his walls and has quotes around the place (know anyone who does that?). And, he sticks his photos higgledy piggledy around the place (blu-tac is my favourite decorating secret weapon!).
At 2.35 mins you get a good look at the flocked wallpaper.... nice and rich and baroque looking. I've got a bit of a thing for that sort of wallpaper..... notice a 'shout out' to it anywhere around here???
All in all, this song, this video, these words, those images......... they turn me inside out just a little bit.
To most people it's probably just a laid back, pretty simple type of song.
To me... it's a revelation.
Hope you like it.
And so it goes another lonely day
Your savin' time but your miles away
Your fly was drownin' in some bitter tea
For seeing lost opportunity
Find your mirror go and look inside
And see the talent you always hide
Don't go kidd yourself well not today
Satisfaction's not too far away
Hold on now your exit's here
It's waiting just for you
Don't pause too long
It's fading now
It's ending all too soon.... you'll see
Soon, you'll see...
Your coffee's warm but your milk is sour
Life is short but you're here to flower
Dream yourself along another day
Never miss opportunity
Don't be scared of what you cannot see
Your only fear is possibility
Never wonder what the hell went wrong
Your second chance may never come along
Hold on now your exit's here
It's waiting just for you
Don't pause too long
It's fading now
It's ending all too soon.... you'll see

I Just Wanna Be Here......
My absolute love of unusual wooden, textured, accessories/furniture (I'm staring at that table), and old books that feel like they've lived a life of their own means I REALLY want to be in this space.
The big chunky woodwork behind.... the trees (oh how I love trees) in the surroundings.... I could get lost on that porch for unlimited amounts of time.
Peace personified for me.
And, the cushions are pretty darn amazing too.
I found the image on Greige Design.... a lovely new blog to add to my faves list!

Monday Mojo - Look What I Ordered On The Weekend! I'm About To Satisfy A Long Held Craving (a little bit)...
I'm looking forward to this week.... a lot.... in fact, crazily!
By the end of the week, or maybe early next week, I'm going to be the proud owner of this canvas print I ordered on the weekend!
I got into a bit of a 're-arranging the furniture frenzy' on the weekend. You know, one of those 'in the zone', intense and deeply satisfying time warps where things get a good shake up, clean out, shuffle, and inspirational up-date!
I cleaned out old crockery and some furniture, bought a hot new rug, some new chairs, a new lamp, various little bits and pieces for the walls (I love putting great cards on my walls), and some new mugs (of all things).
Quite a 'blow out' for me!
And then, I truly fell in love with this tree canvas print when I found the website Simply Canvas on Sunday.
It's called 'In The Depths Of The Forest', and it basically epitomises one of my childhood fantasies... finding the perfect forest to get lost and cocooned in.
Forests (in my dreams), make me feel safe, nurtured and cloaked in mystical goodness. You can find out a bit about why I think that's so here.
But, what it means for me as a grown up, is that my really nutty and heartfelt attraction to trees leads to me including them in my home in any way I can (as long as it looks good - lol).
I can't wait for it to arrive! I now have the perfect blank spot on the wall for it above my antique inlaid writing desk.
I'm SOOOOOO excited.... and I bet my 'mojo' will be good this week!
Happy Monday everyone, and as always on a Monday, may your mojo be with you for the rest of the week!

Monday Mojo - A Gorgeous Tree Loving Home!
Here's a lovely house to look at this Monday morning!
It's from the website Houzz, a good place to get 'lost' for a few hours if you've got time to spare.
You know how I LOVE trees and anything tree related... so how could I not adore this house which is built around some glorious trees. You can see them sprouting out of the decking in various places around the home.
I could really see myself living and relaxing in a home like this. I'd be quite happy never venturing out into the 'real world' for days (maybe weeks) at a time if I had somewhere like this to hide away.
It would be my own little world... so wonderful!
I hope you find a space this week that makes you feel happy and all warm inside.
Have a great week everyone, and as always on a Monday... may your mojo be with you.

Fearless Fantasy Friday - It's The Wallpaper Again...
This fascination I have with wallpaper on the ceiling is becoming quite 'full on' - lol.
Whilst lots of the wallpaper I see in images where it's on the ceiling is a little overwhelming or overdone... I really do think there's a place for elegant and tastefully chosen wallpaper above our heads!
The picture below grabbed my attention during a google search, and then the whole apartment of Jenna Lyons became a curiosity I wanted to explore.
I think Jenna is one lady who doesn't listen to the 'don't do it gremlins' and is a fearless decorator!
Happy 'Fearless Fantasy Friday' everyone!

Globes With A Special Touch... Different and Delightful
You all know how much I love a good globe! Anything map related is fantastic in my book, and a lovely globe really gets me excited!
I couldn't resist buying myself a little globe last weekend when I was out looking at mirrors. I didn't find any mirrors that interested me, but my little globe was very satisfying. It was almost twice the price of the bigger globe you can see above (which I bought at a flea market very cheaply), but at $24.95 I was still happy to add it to my little collection. Thanks Freedom!
If you know me well you also know I have a 'thing' for butterflies.... so imagine my delight when I found the work of Wendy Gold which involves taking old globes and decorating them to turn them into something extraordinary.
Here's one of her butterfly globes...
Here's a globe with a family tree on it. And, yep..... I LOVE trees too, so this one's a stunner in my book as well!
There's also globes based on some well known and very well loved children's books like 'Where The Wild Things Are' and 'Oh, The Places You'll Go'.
I'd love to have a whole collection of these on display.
And, as I love globes, butterflies, trees, and books; these ones would be just grand.
What do you think?
Check out Wendy's ImagineNations website to see her full range of globes.

A Glorious Stained Glass Window Plus A Bookcase To Admire
My well documented 'thing' for books and all things 'booky' meant this room was always going to be a hit!
The bookshelves are quite delicious. Lots of little hidey holes and compartments of all sizes to display books big and small... as well as the odd owl or two!
The stained glass window, however, tips the whole thing over into delerium for me. I love a beautiful stained glass window.

The Newest Additon At My Place - Introducing.....
Frederick!!
My mum gave him to me for my birthday a few weeks back.
Isn't he grand?! :)
We'd spotted him around two months ago when we were both out together browsing through a huge flea market near Ballarat, and I just had to have him, so mum offered to make him my birthday present.
Perfect!
He was named on the spot, and then I had to wait nearly two whole months to get him.
My partner says he's somehow ugly and cute at the same time.... which I sort of 'get'.
But I think he's just downright gorgeous!
I speak to him and pat him on the head, and he always looks like he's got something really witty and insightful to say back.
He generally resides in the kitchen where I can see him a lot of the time, and is also visible as soon as you get inside the front door!
A lovely way to be greeted. :)
