A Dreamy and Opulent Apartment In St. Petersburg

In Winter time I find my interior design cravings leaning towards easy elegance, lots of fabric, softness, and anything that makes me feel cocooned in comfort. I just want to feel that warm and fuzzy feeling you get when you can hibernate away from the cold in a place you love to be.

I found these images of a wonderful St. Petersburg Apartment by Anton Valiev over on Fresh Home.

All images here on Fresh Home

I love its opulence and the swathes of fabric. I'm shivering through my dreary days over here in Aus, and these rooms would be lovely to come home to at the end of another rain and wind filled day.

That bed would be wonderful to snuggle up in and read a good book, and I can definitely see myself sitting at that desk and putting pen to paper.

Bedrooms A Plenty...

Here's an idea book of bedrooms found on Houzz. It's the 20 most popular bedrooms of last year as voted by their readers. I'm not sure any of them actually 'sings' to me, but there's a few bits and pieces I really love.

And, the view from one of them is absolutely to die for.

My fave thing out of all the pics?.......

.... that big sliding barn door! Now that would really add some atmosphere to a modern/rustic place. Having come 'from the country' as a girl, but also loving parts of the mod look, that would be a door I'd love to have in my perfect house someday. Just got to get one big enough to take it!!

Fearless Fantasy Friday - Amy Butler's Fantastic Rugs!

In my favourite fantasy rooms (the fearless ones in my head), there's always a truly incredible rug with gorgeous colours and the most beautiful feel.

These rugs by Amy Butler are just perfect for one of my imagined 'dream' rooms.

The colours, the designs, the patterns, the boldness.... I just think they'd breathe real 'life' into a room.

Amy's rugs are made from 100% New Zealand wool, hand tufted and dyed, and hand-carved using special scissors.

There are 19 rugs in the collection - 13 designs, six of which are colored in two colorways. They're all based on Amy's fabulous fabrics and bedding prints!

You can see all the rugs and designs on this page.... so luxurious and beautiful.

I bet you can guess which one is my fave?

Happy Friday everyone. :)

Go forth and decorate!

Fearless Fantasy Friday - Oh Yes... There's More!

So, you may remember last Friday's post about Diamond Baratta Design.... these guys are really funky and fearless.

And.... they've heaps more to cast your eyes over.

Here's just a few more of their most colourful images.

They do less 'in your face' designs as well, but I love these!

Happy weekend everyone.

Go forth and decorate!

Fearless Fantasy Friday - Diamond Baratta Design...

I think the guys over at Diamond Baratta Design are pretty darn fearless!

These gorgeous shots from their portfolio are so full of indulgent colour and non-paranoid use of pattern! I also love the way they use the 'curve' in their rooms. Gives them a sort of groovy vibe!

What do you think?

Head on over here to see more of their bold and fearless designs!

A Gorgeous 'Nest' In Brooklyn by Suzanne And Lauren McGrath...

I spotted this very stylish and pretty Brooklyn Apartment over on Hip Hip Gin Gin, and the original photos (8 of them) and story can be found over here at Traditional Home.

Lauren was a fresh out of college 'fashion writer' when she was lucky enough to get hold of this delightful apartment. She then called on her mum, Suzanne, who has worked as an interior designer for years (including alongside Martha Stewart for 10 of them), to help her out.

The result, as you can see, is simple, pretty, welcoming, and just straight out gorgeous!

My favourite things are the little 'love seat sofa', the feather cushion, the bedside table with the twist legs, and that stunning mirror (bought for a bargain price at Anthropologie).

Here's what the Traditional Home story says about the table...  Lauren’s absolute favorite furnishing is an old desk-turned-vanity that Suzanne found cast out on a Brooklyn street 20 years ago. She appropriated it as a small corner writing table for her living room, then passed it on to Lauren for reinvention as a vanity. “Paired with an unusual vintage Lucite stool, it’s rejuvenated,” says Suzanne. “It’s probably not worth anything, but it has good bones.”

I love the yellow lamp too. It reminded me of the ones below that I'd seen over at Shine by S.H.O! I've had them pinned in my inspiration file for ages, and when I saw the yellow lamp in Lauren's apartment, I grabbed the opportunity to show you this pic too!

You can see some more pics, and read the interesting story of this charming little apartment, here.

And Now For Something Completely Different - Pample Mousse Design Inc.

It's not everyday you see a sheep in your living room!!

When I came across this modernist house designed by Pample Mousse Design Inc, I was intrigued and fascinated by their bold choices. Bright pops of colour, clever use of pattern, interesting incorporation of textures, and entertaining artwork and 'props'.

Never a dull moment in this house I suspect!

What do you think? Could you deal with a pretend sheep in your living room?

I love the zany quirkiness of it all!!

Of course, the sheep would all have to have names... hmmmmmm....

Designer Crush - Samantha Pynn

If I remember correctly (which will be a miracle at the moment - lol), it was around 6 months ago I first saw Samantha's work over at the lovely House of Turquoise.

I think her rooms are so fresh, vibrant, and beautifully put together. I find her choice of colours invigorating and yet soothing at the same time. And, I admire her ability to strike the right balance with interesting accessories, eye catching art works, great fabrics, fabulous furniture, and differing textures. I also admire her use of fabulous light fittings and the 'clean' line she maintains in every room.

Oh yeah..... I also consider her a member of the 'Cushionista Club'!! She seems to have a really great knack for finding superb cushions. Love it. :)
