Fearless Fantasy Friday - Watercolour Wallpaper...

I've been finding some wonderful pics of wallpaper to add to my Pinterest collection, and this is my new favourite!

It comes from Black Crow Studios (watch out for the loud music if you click on the link), and features a design based on watercolour paints.

Isn't it glorious?

It would certainly turn heads in any house I think.

Happy Friday everyone, I hope you all have a super weekend.

Now, go forth and decorate!

When Did You Last.....

... discover a whole new secret world hidden away in your home somewhere?

It's so great to be a kid and make cubbies, create little nooks, and use your imagination.

As a grown up, I miss that incredible feeling of mysterious wonder I got from losing myself in the creation of my own little secret place.

This wonderful idea above was carried out by Maple Seed Renovation. Their client had a little, hidden playroom his children liked to play in, and he requested they make a secret passage through an old wardrobe he had picked up.

How great is that!!!

Being a huge fan of Narnia myself, (I voraciously read all the Narnia books when I was little), this magical set-up brings back great thoughts of happy hours spent wondering what it would be like to have my own 'real' secret world.

How much fun would this be for children to have?! (And, heaps of fun for the grown-ups who helped make it too!)

Awwww - Pets...

Pets can really make a home can't they!

This cat looks a lot like my cat Jessie.

BUT, I can tell you without a second thought that Jessie would not be this patient if we had a little feathered friend like this one hanging around!

How good was that cat?! It only started to get really cranky (and even then in a pretty controlled manner) at the end.

Jessie would've had a few feathers sticking out of her mouth and the bird would've been mysteriously absent by that stage....

Etsy Dreaming ~ Theater Clouds ~ Surprising and Ethereal Art...

I first came across one of Elly MacKay's dreamy prints on the front page of Etsy a little while ago.

It had an ethereal, whimsical, soft quality to it that immediately drew my eye and got me clicking through to her shop, which is called 'Theater Clouds'.

Once there, I wasn't disappointed.

Her prints are a pure delight.... with a sort of hazy, wistful, fairy-tale quality that I loved.

Here are some of my favourites....

Elly has a bachelor of Fine Art, and makes these images by inking yupo paper and cutting it into layers that she sets up in a miniature theater.

She then plays with the lights and filters to create atmosphere, and then photographs the scenes.

I ask you - how cool is that?!

You can see the process here....

Elly also has a truly lovely blog with many more gorgeous images and a portfolio slideshow that's a real treat to watch.

This image is on my Etsy wishlist.

It's entitled 'The Name Her Heart Sang', and it just calls to me.

You can visit Elly's beautiful Etsy shop here.

Fearless Fantasy Friday - Amy Butler's Fantastic Rugs!

In my favourite fantasy rooms (the fearless ones in my head), there's always a truly incredible rug with gorgeous colours and the most beautiful feel.

These rugs by Amy Butler are just perfect for one of my imagined 'dream' rooms.

The colours, the designs, the patterns, the boldness.... I just think they'd breathe real 'life' into a room.

Amy's rugs are made from 100% New Zealand wool, hand tufted and dyed, and hand-carved using special scissors.

There are 19 rugs in the collection - 13 designs, six of which are colored in two colorways. They're all based on Amy's fabulous fabrics and bedding prints!

You can see all the rugs and designs on this page.... so luxurious and beautiful.

I bet you can guess which one is my fave?

Happy Friday everyone. :)

Go forth and decorate!

Etsy Dreaming ~ Zipper 8 Lighting ~ Atmosphere And Mood...

Lighting is one of the most essential areas to address when it comes to making a home feel right. One of my earliest posts opined about the remarkable effect lighting can have on our homes and the people within them.

There's all different sorts of lighting, but I love lighting that brings soft, glowing, moody atmosphere to a room.

I love cocooning myself in soothing, flattering, mellow light.

It makes me feel good! (And look better too - haha.)

These lights from Zipper 8 Lighting on Etsy are both atmospheric and unusual. The artist (they seem like 'art' to me) makes them from maps, book pages, drinking straws, old recycled plastic bags... an amazing feat.

Her name is Allison Patrick, and she's a recent graduate from Architecture School in New York City.

How glam does that sound!

They look so beautiful in their lit up state.

So eye-catching and sculptural.

I also like the earthy feel that comes from them. They just seem to give off good grounding vibes (especially the lights made from the pages of a book and map pieces - you know how I love books and maps)!

I think it's always special to be able to buy something that's gorgeous, and has been made from 'found' materials rather than 'manufactured' in a sterile environment.

I love them. What do you think?

You can find Zipper 8 Lighting here.

Monday Mojo - Get Happy! How About These Two Pics On Your Wall?

I'd love to have these two pics on the wall near my door as I went out every day.

I reckon they'd help me start the day with a huge spring in my step and a big smile on my face.

Happy Monday everyone.  :)

May your 'mojo' be with you!

Fearless Fantasy Friday - A Bedhead With A Difference!

Now, if I had the chance to get my hands on one of these, boy oh boy would I do it!

This bedhead has a mirror edging, which I think is really unusual and such a great piece of eye-catching decor.

Very luxurious and glam, and eminently suitable for my fearlessly fabulous fantasy bedroom!

Happy 'Fearless Fantasy Friday' everyone.

Go forth and decorate!

Come Dine With Me - No. 18 - A Family Feeling...

Isn't this dining area just a beautiful representation of all things family?

A simple, gorgeous place to eat and share good times set amongst a lovely gallery wall of special family moments.

I love it.

Image from Belle Maison via Decor Pad

And, as always, as a part of this series.....

Ask yourself: 'Do I savour the ritual of eating with my family/friends whenever I can?'

Which leads to: 'When, or how, can I include this precious time together more?'

Because: There's something so primitively delightful and bonding about the 'breaking of bread' (so to speak) with our loved ones. It's a ritual and a tradition that's been crowded out and lost amongst television, technology, and texting! It's time to 'get together' and connect the old fashioned way again.

Etsy Dreaming ~ A Cute Tapir From Olula

O.K.

Seriously.

How cute is this!!

I would never have picked myself as a lover of tapirs, but it looks like I am!  This stuffed one is so bright and gorgeous!

And they come in different colours. :)

I think I want a yellow, a red, and a blue one..... oh heck, the grey one is divine too.

They're from Olula on Etsy. Owner Cristina is based in Spain, and loves to make things out of felt and cotton.

She describes these lovable softies as follows:

What do you know about this amazing animal? It looks like a mixture of a rhinoceros and a horse because it belongs to both families. They live in the rain forests and are pretty primitives. But they are very sympathetic, aren´t they? This cute Tapir is hand sewed and made of stuffed high quality colored felt.

I love it when I find something new that spontaneously tickles my fancy. Unexpected surprises are the best ones!

You can visit Cristina's gorgeous Olula Etsy shop here.

Monday Mojo - Shrink Your Steepest Hill by Jenn Louden

I've been a follower of Jennifer Louden for quite some time. Firstly when she was 'The Comfort Queen', and now over at www.jenniferlouden.com. Her blog's been on my side bar for yonks, and I regularly check in.

I came across this video by Jenn the other day on She's Next.

Why don't you try it?!

I hope this week you get to 'shrink your steepest hill' just a little.

Happy Monday.

May the 'mojo' be with you!

So, you may remember last Friday's post about Diamond Baratta Design.... these guys are really funky and fearless.

And.... they've heaps more to cast your eyes over.

Here's just a few more of their most colourful images.

They do less 'in your face' designs as well, but I love these!

Happy weekend everyone.
