Room Envy - Cozy, Earthy, Warm and Delectable!

I just adore a lot of Thibaut's fabric and paper, and whilst cruising around their site today I came across this room, and immediately melted. I could just see myself spending hours in there.... eating deliciously tasty and scented food, laughing over a favourite drink with friends, meandering through the paper on a Sunday morning with a croissant and a hot cup of tea (I don't drink coffee)!

I love these sorts of natural, warm colours, and enjoy the bright splash of the yellow, orange, and green accents provided by the plant and fruit additions.

Cheers,

Linda.

3 Images That Startled Me - So Beautiful!

I was absolutely gobsmacked when I came across these 3 beautiful photos of one of my favourite animals. I can so clearly see them residing on the walls of my home, taking pride of place amongst my other eclectic photos and artworks. How wonderful it would be to pass by them every day and smile at the vibe they create for me.

Amazing.

Aren't they just incredible images! All 3 are sourced from The Design Inspiration.

Ask yourself: 'Do I 'have a thing' for any particular animal?'

Which leads to: 'Is this animal represented in my home? How could I bring it into my home or surroundings?'

Because: Judicious placement (not haphazard and over zealous cluttering) of things that particularly call to you will satiate a certain innate fascination within you, will ground you, and connect you to the place you call home.

Cheers,

Linda.

The Charm, Persona, and Solidity of Beautiful Furniture...

Some homes just have that feel of being grounded, stable, supportive, and nurturing...... like an old friend who's always there.

Furniture can go a long way to creating the 'old friend' vibe and atmosphere - and wood is always a soothing and cocooning material to work with.

This house, for instance (found whilst spending a spare half hour browsing the lovely blog Two Ellie), resonates with an atmosphere of old world charm.

Somewhere to nestle in, snuggle up, hibernate, and dream.

For me, the furniture is the standout reason for the waves of warmth and care this home gives out.... imagine what it would be like to be there amongst it, 'feeling the presence' of the beautiful wood, running your fingers over the smooth surfaces and lovely curves - aahh.

The earthy colours and hints of mother nature throughout the home (wooden vase, animal prints and objects, flowers etc) help as well, but the furniture is the hero for me!

All images from the post 'Winter' over at Two Ellie.

Visit to see more pics of the home.

Ask yourself: 'Does my furniture contribute positively to the 'vibe' and 'atmosphere' within my home?'

Which leads to: 'Is the vibe created by my furniture a match for the 'feeling' I want my rooms to convey?'

Because: Furniture is such a huge element in any home, it's vital we don't overlook its importance in creating a certain vibe or feeling.

Cheers,

Linda.

A Wonderful Quote About Some Of My Best Friends...

You know how important I think books are to the creation of a beautiful home.... they hold their own fascination, their own special vibe, their own worlds and journeys. Books can't help but impart a feeling of comfort, stability, and personality into a home in my opinion.

This is one of my favourite quotes about books...

Books are the quietest and most constant of friends; they are the most accessible and wisest of counselors, and the most patient of teachers. ~ Charles W. Eliot ~

Here's some gorgeous 'book' pics to celebrate the loveliness of books.

And another insightful quote... a woman after my own 'book bound' heart!

I would be most content if my children grew up to be the kind of people who think decorating consists mostly of building enough bookshelves. ~ Anna Quindlen, "Enough Bookshelves," New York Times, 7 August 1991 ~

Have a lovely weekend everyone.

If you love a good read, I hope you get time to indulge! xox

Ask yourself: 'Do I have many books in my home?'

Which leads to: 'Where do I have them? How are they displayed? Could I re-arrange them so they're better able to contribute to the vibe within my rooms? Are they at my fingertips if I want them?'

Because: Books truly do help 'make a house a home' (in my opinion).

Cheers,

Linda.

The Exuberance and Happiness Of Yellow!! Pics To Lift Your Heart...

Well..... I was all set to write a post about decluttering today, then I came across this divine picture of a golden hallway with the words 'Good Day Sunshine' lettered above the openings and I got sidetracked into the wonderfully exuberant and delightfully happy world of yellow!

Yay for yellow!

I may be a 'red' lover, but I have a huge soft spot for yellow (at least 2 of my homes have had yellow walls painted throughout). And, whilst my partner calls me the 'Queen of Decluttering', that post will have to wait, because today I'm reminded just how uplifting yellow can be!

Here's a collection of gorgeous yellow pics to light up your day... for the slide show, click on the first left icon to expand the screen, then click the arrows!

I hope you enjoyed the beautiful blast of yellow!

Cheers,

Linda.

The 'Nurturing Home' Revisited, And A Cute Kitten!

A while back I posted 'The A,B,C's Of A Nurturing Home', a lovely, warm, inspiring list suggesting what truly makes a house a home. Very much worth a re-read to affirm just what really is important in our lives and our homes (and the pics are totally gorgeous too!).

When I saw this brilliant photo, it reminded me of the 'P' entry in that alphabetical list and why they're such a wonderful addition to any home!

Don't you just love pets! Go cat go!

Ask yourself: 'Does my home manifest many of the ABC's of a nurturing home?'

Which leads to: 'How can I create a more nurturing atmosphere within my home? What's missing?'

Because: Your home is what you make it..... you can choose to consciously create an atmosphere that cradles, nurtures, and supports you throughout your life.

Cheers,

Linda.

P.S. Here's 2 more adorable kitten pics - because I simply couldn't resist! Imagine holding one of these lovelies in your lap and stroking it while it purrs and snuggles in to you!

P.P.S.  And just because I love him sooooo much - here's the 'Super-star' cat (as referred to in the comments) of the A,B,C's Of A Nurturing Home post. He's just awesome! You can see him down the right-hand side of the blog too.

Eclectic, Quirky, and Colourful - A Blast Of Fun In Basset Rd!!

Now, this is my sort of home....... absolutely choc full to the brim with personality, colour, stories to tell, unusual displays, objects as art, cheekiness, liveliness............ I could go on!!

Not all the rooms exactly mesh with my design sense or colour faves, but boy is it a delight to my eyes none-the-less. And, I bet I'd love to spend an hour or two chatting and downing a nice cuppa (or something stronger) with the person who lives there - what a personality they must be!!

I love the use of shoes and beautiful dresses as displays (something I do in my own home with a divine pair of purple shoes, some gorgeous ruby red slippers, some swanky red boots, and two beautiful Japanese lounging robes).

The sheer audacity, unabashedness, freedom, and joy exuded by homes like this just makes me feel happy!

Enjoy.....

My favourite room is the bedroom, and I'm loving the wallpaper used in various ways and rooms - so bold!! Love the turquoise wall colour too - thrilling backdrop for posing the beautiful clothes and shoes against!

All images taken from 1st Option - Basset Rd.

Ask yourself: 'Is my home full of my personality? Does it make me happy?'

Which leads to: 'What can I do to make my home more 'me'?'

Because: A home that's an extension of its owner will bring the most joy, contentment, and a feeling of belonging to its owner!

Cheers,

Linda.
